Structuring a Winning Resume

 For dynamic job seekers, a well prepared and proficient resume is an important instrument to stand out among the competition for applying jobs. In the current situation, good written resume will able to pass through the filtration process. For increasing the chances of short listing and selecting for interview it is important for candidates to structure resume in a balanced layout. The layout has experiences, qualifications and certifications are the high light areas.

The resume has no standard format or style that candidates have strictly to follow. But each resume differ from others as candidate apply his own philosophy and style. According to market research society, resume should reveal more than experience and achievements. Well good written resume will have more chances to filter through the screening process but resume in balanced layout will enable the recruiter to clearly trail the desired section. Resume selection consisting of candidate previous job responsibilities, skills, certifications and educations.

A structural resume shows about the professional behavior of the candidates toward the job. If a resume is more structural and well sectioned than the candidate is organized, accuracy is found in performance and knows well what he has to do in the future regarding his career.

There are some outline points than job seeker or candidates must consider while structuring a resume before applying for job.

  • Multiple colour schemes should not be used as it creates a distraction for recruiter while reading resumes of candidate.
  • Character theme used should be similar, for instance, if the objective and qualification is in Arial theme and certification and experience is in Times New Roman than it creates a sense that content is inserted in some internet download template and candidate have no idea how to deal with template.
  • Font size should be used neither too small nor too large. Too large font size gives the resume poster like theme and too small font size would make the resumes hard to read for recruiters. Suggested font size must be between 11 to 12.
  • Most important thing is sectioning the resume which would help the recruiter to find relevant information in the resume.
  • Align the resume according to the position applied plays an important part. This will gave an impression that candidate is more versed in handling the matter according to the situation.
  • Many candidates have impressive skills but have very little grip on these. In this, candidate must mention each skill with detail example relevant form previous experiences to describe that he has a grip on the skills.

A resume will not be too elaborative. Structured resume gives the employer a sense that the candidate has the personality. It is not always easy that candidate gave a unique characteristic impression on the employer but structural resume can do this every time. A structural resume answer the hiring management question of “Why you?” So from resume end, don’t leave any ambiguity in management mind that the candidate is not qualified.
